Completely Terrible

Things went horribly wrong. It was a real train wreck. We tried to {compensate|mitigate the situation, but it was like trying to stop a blizzard with a cocktail stick. We're still picking up the pieces and feeling the impact of this unmitigated catastrophe.

This crisis has spiraled out of control. It's a total catastrophe. We've tried everything to fix it, but nothing seems to be effective. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Frankly, I don't know what else to do. This is a nightmare of epic proportions.

That's So Cringe, It's Hilarious (In a Way)

Sometimes you stumble upon situations so awful that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to understand the sheer magnitude of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.

But then, you remember that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you felt morphs into a wistful, melancholic sound.

After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of confusion. You question about the meaning of it all. Was this intended to be funny?

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

A Disaster of Epic Proportions

The tsunami struck with devastating force, destroying entire cities in its sweep. Buildings collapsed like sandcastles, and the screams that ensued was deafening. It all started with a terrible case of bedhead hair. I couldn't figure it to look presentable. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedover and badly all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was completely behind schedule for work.

I arrived. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was a complete disaster.

The rest of the day was just as bad. seemed to conspire against me. I get anything done.

By the time I reached my destination, I was utterly defeated. This day, this horrific day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

Things Went From Bad to Absolutely Terrible

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
